Our Story
Being a husband and wife team brings a real synergy to our business, and we have built our company together, founded on our philosophy that customer service is more important than sales. We have always been inspired by the concepts of destiny and fate. Our passion is literally in our name—Shmukler means Jewelry.
Jewelry is our family business, and we’ve continued the legacy for over two decades. We’ve owned jewelry stores in Arizona and California, and in 2021 we moved to Meridian, Idaho where we opened Shmukler Jewelry Design. Having a beautiful jewelry boutique where our whole family can be involved means everything to us, and we love to spend time as a family involved in the community and enjoying Idaho’s great outdoors.

IRINA
Jewelry has always been a family business for Irina, who grew up working in her family’s own jewelry store. She knows the business from the inside and out, and possesses a vast knowledge of the industry and an immeasurable professional skill set that her customers rely upon, comfortable because they know they can trust her to guide them through their jewelry purchases. She is the heart of the business, the Visionary Director—networking, organizing events, marketing, and making sure that everyone is being taken care of. Irina is a member of the Meridian Chamber of Commerce, and a JA Certified Management Professional with a GIA-DG (diamond graduate credential) from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).
Born in Ukraine, Kiev, Irina came to America in 1978 with her parents. Her family opened a jewelry store in Arizona, where she would work throughout her teenage years. In 1997 she met Boris, they fell fast in love and were married straightaway. Boris joined her, working together for the family-run business, where he advanced so much, and so fast, that they decided to branch out and open a jewelry store of their own.
BORIS
With nearly three decades of experience, Boris has worked in the jewelry business from every possible angle. As a diamond cutter, imaginative jewelry designer, qualified gemologist, skilled appraiser, and dedicated jewelry store owner, he has accumulated hands-on jewelry experience that simply cannot be obtained through coursework alone. A master goldsmith, he warmly welcomes both unconventional and traditional projects, often found at his workbench late into the night and sometimes stretching into the early morning hours, diligently working on each individual element with extraordinary patience and focus, until every meticulous detail is perfected to his high standards.
His extraordinary journey into the captivating world of jewelry began at just 16 years old when he made the bold decision to leave the Soviet Union and start anew in Israel. Eager to immerse himself in his newfound surroundings, he enrolled in courses at the renowned Israel Diamond Institute (IDI). There, he dedicated himself to mastering essential skills such as gemology, silversmithing, diamond cutting, jewelry design, and stone setting. His remarkable commitment and innate talent set him apart, earning him the prestigious “Best in Class” award for two consecutive years. After making his way to the United States, destiny smiled upon him as he met Irina, the love of his life. This serendipitous encounter led him to apprentice in her family’s well-established jewelry store, where he cultivated his craft and deepened his passion for fine jewelry. Alongside practical experience, he sought to enhance his knowledge further by completing advanced courses at The Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A), recognized as the world’s foremost institution for gem and jewelry education. To solidify his expertise, he also earned the esteemed GIA-DG (Diamond Graduate credential) from the illustrious Gemological Institute of America (GIA), firmly establishing his credentials and reputation in the jewelry industry.
